Short answerIf a contractor job goes wrong in Ohio, here is what we could confirm on official pages: where to file a complaint, contract and cancellation rules, liens on your home. Each item links to its source. Keep your contract, payments and photos.

Where to file a complaint

File with the Consumer Protection Section by phone at 800-282-0515, online, or by mail after requesting a paper form. Source

Contract and cancellation rules

If you sign a contract in your home, you have three business days to cancel it, in writing. In Ohio, business days are Monday through Saturday; Sundays and legal holidays don't count. Source

Liens on your home

A 2013 Attorney General release advises insisting on a sworn statement from the contractor that all materials and subcontractors have been paid, to help protect you from liens if the contractor fails to pay them. It does not state notice rules. Source
