Contractor Problems in New Mexico: Complaints and Your Options

Short answerIf a contractor job goes wrong in New Mexico, here is what we could confirm on official pages: where to file a complaint, bond or insurance. Each item links to its source. Keep your contract, payments and photos.

Where to file a complaint

Submit a Request for Investigation online, or ask for a PDF or paper form at cid.compliance@rld.nm.gov. The division says it cannot handle a financial or contractual dispute unless a judgment is obtained from a court, and that neither it nor the Commission can force a licensee to make corrections or repair damage caused by code violations. Bond or insurance

Licensees must maintain a code bond that, if certain conditions are met, can be used to correct uncorrected code violations. The page does not state the amount. Source
