Contractor Problems in Nebraska: Complaints and Your Options

Short answerIf a contractor job goes wrong in Nebraska, here is what we could confirm on official pages: where to file a complaint, contract and cancellation rules. Each item links to its source. Keep your contract, payments and photos.

Where to file a complaint

The Attorney General's home repair page lists the office at (402) 471-2785. It also says to check with the Nebraska Department of Labor at 402-471-2239 to see if your contractor is registered, to get a written estimate and sign a written contract, and to make sure all blanks are filled in before you sign. Contract and cancellation rules

Nebraska's three-day right to cancel covers sales made in your home or other places that aren't the seller's regular place of business. Home repair and maintenance sales are exempt when the homeowner initiated the contact. Cancellation must be in writing and counts as given when mailed, and the seller has ten days to return your money. Source
