Contractor Problems in Louisiana: Complaints and Your Options

Short answerIf a contractor job goes wrong in Louisiana, here is what we could confirm on official pages: where to file a complaint, bond or insurance. Each item links to its source. Keep your contract, payments and photos.

Where to file a complaint

The board's site lists File a Complaint Against a Contractor online or as a PDF form under its Consumers menu. The board's number is 225.765.2301. Source

Bond or insurance

The board requires home improvement, residential and mold remediation applicants to show general liability insurance of at least $500,000, along with workers' compensation coverage with no stated amount. A home improvement registration is required for projects over $7,500 and up to $50,000. The FAQ does not list a bond requirement. Source
